Welcome to Avoidstammering, a web site in development to provide help and support to those who for whatever reason stutter, stammer or stumble over words and generally find that they cannot say what they know they ought to be able say coherently. This is a web site put together by someone who has stammered since they were very young, who earns his living by talking and writing and still does stammer when under stress but controls, manages and generally gets on with communicating and living. I’ve learned to deal with stammering and will happily talk to one or one hundred people. You can do the same and the techniques I describe here were taught to me by a brilliant speech therapist in Bristol when I was 16.  And I still use them from time to time.
